Northeast Mississippi Office

Angie Owen

Northeast Program Specialist Angie Owen joined BBBS as a Program Coordinator for Community and Site Based Programs in 2002.  She works with all facets of the entire BBBS program in her area.  She is a graduate of the University of Missouri-St. Louis with a Bachelor's Degree in English. While at the University she also worked on her Master's in Adult Education. She is a member of the largest Civitan Organization in the United States. She is married to Don and has three children. She is currently a big sister and has had three "Littles" during her tenure with BBBS.  She recently celebrated the birth of her first grandchild.  She loves working for BBBS and says, "Every day is a rewarding adventure."

Ginger Tatum Mann

Ginger Tatum Mann is the program specialist for Lee/Itawamba counties in our Northeast Mississippi Office. She Lives in Guntown, has two daughters (Kendall and Kayce) and 1 granddaughter (Ava Kate Marie) who just turned 1.  She has two Bachelor of Arts Degrees, the first in Youth Leadership (Lee University) and her second in Social Science with Education.  

She is married to Michael Mann who is the Pastor at Mathiston Church of God in Mathiston, Mississippi where she teaches the Young Adults Sunday School Classes.  She is originally from Knoxville, Tennessee but has lived in Mississippi for over 30 years.  She is looking forward to working for Big Brothers Big Sisters because as she puts it, "I love working with Children, they are my passion!"

Metro Jackson Area Office

Ava Bibbs

Ms. Bibbs is a Program Specialist with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mississippi in our Metro Jackson area office. She has worked in the non-profit community for over twelve years.  Ms. Bibbs earned her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Criminology both from Jackson State University. She is currently working on her Doctorate in Psychology at Jackson State University.  She has two beautiful children, whom mean the world to her. Ava has a passion for helping others, therefore, she became a Director of a Childcare agency for ten years and Social Worker for four years. After four years of being a Social Worker, she found an agency that believes in helping others, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mississippi. The experiences she gained working with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mississippi has given Ava a stronger devotion for the non-profit sector again, and a deeper appreciation of how Big Brothers Big Sisters seeks to improve the quality of life for our youth.

Sharon Gill

Sharon Gill has been a Program Specialist with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mississippi (Metro Jackson area) for over a year. She has over 23 years of experience in serving children and families within the community. Sharon is a graduate of Jackson State University with a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration.

Sharon loves working and providing services for children and their families to help them reach their fullest potential. 

Sharon is a native of Mississippi and currently resides in Florence, MS.

Michael Harvey

Michael Harvey is a Program Specialist in our Metro Jackson Office. He is from Terry Mississippi and is married with 3 children. He has a background in working with kids through the Boy Scouts of America where he served as a Senior District Executive for 6 years. He also served as a Resident Service Coordinator for 4 years with Preservation Management Inc. and says, “I am truly glad to be working with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mississippi to help with the positive advancement of our youth.”

Rhonda Hurston

Rhonda Hurston is a new Program Specialist assigned to the Jackson Metro Office. She currently lives in Jackson and received her Bachelor’s from Mississippi State University.

She brings ten years worth of experience working as a mentor and volunteer with several local community programs.  Rhonda is looking forward to working with Big Brothers Big Sisters and truly believes, “Connectedness and community involvement are essential for healthy, happy children and the advancement of families.”

Pinebelt Office

Nancy Hullum

Nancy has been with Big Brothers Big Sisters for ten years in our Pinebelt Regional Office.  Before that, she taught school for 28 years in the Petal School District.  She has two degrees the first in music and a masters degree in counseling and psychology. She has taught every grade level, including a year at William Carey University.

She was our Program Specialist of the Year in 2016.  She said, “This was a complete surprise and a wonderful honor.”

Angie Sides

Ms. Sides is a Program Specialist in our Pine Belt Office.  She is a Mississippi native having grown up in New Hebron and Prentiss, MS.  After graduating high school in 1977 she relocated to Hattiesburg and began working on her secondary education and received the following:

  • BS Education K-8, University of Southern Mississippi, May 1981
  • MA Education, William Carey University, July 1996
  • Specialist, University of Southern Miss, Mild and Moderate Disabilities; K-12, July 2008

Her teaching experience includes: 

  • 28 years, Regular Education K, 1, 2, 5 & 6
  • 5 years, SPED Inclusion and Self-Contained Classroom,
  • 5 years, Adult Education GED

She is married to David Sides, and they have two daughters, Saundra Hamby and Kelli Everman. 

"Working with children has been my passion, and I have learned that they are the key to a successful future.   I have many favorite quotes and most are based on education.  One of my favorite quotes was spoken by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.:  'The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.'"
